CEREC® Restorations

Complete Your Smile in One Day

At our Kitchener-Waterloo dental office, our CEREC CAD/CAM technology is changing the face of cosmetic treatments. Dr. Ashraf uses this advanced dental technology to create a customized, durable dental restoration completely in our own office.

A CEREC porcelain crown is typically created to cover or “cap” a damaged or decayed tooth that enhances the aesthetics of your smile. Our technology allows us to deliver a completely restored smile in just one appointment with our in-house lab. You won’t have to wear a temporary crown any longer and you’ll be able to reveal your new smile right away.

How Does CEREC Work?

Also known as Ceramic Reconstruction, CEREC brings computer-assisted design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology to our dental office. Dr. Ashraf will take a digital, 3D impression of your mouth and create a restoration that blends seamlessly with your smile.

After completing your restorative treatment, Dr. Ashraf will prepare your new CEREC crown to ensure it fits properly in your mouth and matches the exact shape and color or your natural teeth. Once he confirms it’s a perfect match, he will bond it to your tooth and polish its surface.

What Does Dr. Ashraf Use CEREC Restorations For?

For our Kitchener-Waterloo patients, our CEREC restorations allow you to achieve your ideal smile without having to wait weeks for a lab to send in your final cap. By bringing all parts of your treatment process to our Waterloo office, you can come in for an appointment with Dr. Ashraf and leave with a rejuvenated smile.

Dr. Ashraf finishes off a variety of treatments with CEREC restorations, including:

  • Crowns and Bridges
  • Root Canals
  • Inlays and Onlays
  • Dental Implants
  • Veneers

The Benefits of Using CEREC

Convenience isn’t the only benefit that comes with our advanced restorative technology. In addition to getting a same-day crown, other benefits of CEREC include:

  1. Comfortable Impressions – CEREC uses a unique digital scanner that creates a 3D model of your smile that displays directly on our screens. Not only does this allow you to look at your smile from a new angle, but it also allows Dr. Ashraf to comprehensively evaluate all parts of your smile. From there, our Waterloo dentist is able to determine the extent of damage and create a porcelain restoration that best fits your unique smile.
  2. Accuracy — Too often, treated teeth become reinfected due to human error or improperly made restorations. Our CAD/CAM technology removes human error from the equation by creating restorations that are customized to the specifications of your unique smile and placed with unmatched precision.
  3. Metal-Free — Each CEREC restoration is made out of highly durable porcelain. By eliminating metal from your smile, you can avoid the sensitivity that comes with metal crowns and enjoy a restoration that matches the color of your smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are CEREC crowns better than traditional crowns?
How long do CEREC crowns last?
Are CEREC crowns covered by insurance?
Are CEREC crowns better than traditional crowns?

CEREC crowns are made from durable, tooth-colored porcelain for a natural appearance and long-lasting results. There’s no measurable difference in strength and effectiveness between a CEREC crown and a traditional porcelain crown. However, the convenience of completing your treatment in one appointment makes CEREC the more appealing choice for many patients.

How long do CEREC crowns last?

CEREC crowns are designed to look and function just like your natural teeth. They’re highly durable and typically last ten to fifteen years, the same as traditional crowns. But with exceptional care, your CEREC crown may last even longer.

Are CEREC crowns covered by insurance?

Unfortunately, just as with traditional crowns, CEREC crowns are typically not covered by dental insurance. Since they’re a cosmetic treatment, most providers won’t offer any payment for them. However, you may be able to get a portion of your treatment cost covered depending on the terms of your plan.

Welcome Back

Life has been anything but normal this spring and we sincerely hope you and your family are in good health. We are happy to inform you that we are now able to once again provide dental care for you and your family. The Ministry of Health has lifted the restrictions placed back in March. While many things have changed since then, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your health and safety. Our office has always followed strict infection control standards and in order to keep us all protected during this pandemic and in the future, we have updated our protocols. When we see you at your next appointment, things will be a little different.

• We will ask some screening questions before your appointment and you’ll be asked those same questions again when you’re in the office.

• You may be asked to wait outside our office or in your car and call us when you arrive and then wait for a call back to let you know when you can enter the office.

• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the clinic. There are more dispensers around the office for you to use as needed. As well, you will be provided some gloves to wear. We recommend that you bring your own mask to wear prior to entering the clinic.

• Our waiting room will no longer offer magazines or children’s toys since those items are difficult to fully disinfect.

• Appointments will be spaced out to allow for physical distancing between patients. That might mean less flexibility for scheduling your appointment, but it will also reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

• You may be surprised that we’re wearing more protective gear – such as masks, face shields, gowns – than we normally do during your visit.

Rest assured, all these procedures are designed to create the safest environment for you, other patients and our team. We have undergone some renovations during this time. All operatory suites have been fully enclosed with glass windows and doors. This will ensure that all aerosols will be contained in the operatory. Prior to COVID-19, we had already installed Hepa filtration systems in all operatories and waiting areas. These systems are from Surgically Clean Air.

We look forward to seeing you again. If you have any questions, please let us know. To make an appointment, call our office at 519-725-9585 or email us at info@ashrafdentistry.ca.

Thank you for patience and loyalty throughout this ordeal. We value your trust and look forward to welcoming you back!

Sincerely,

Dr K Ashraf and the whole Dental Team.
