Quick way to brighten your smile in Waterloo

Home Quick way to brighten your smile in Waterloo

Our smiles are an important facial feature and a huge part of our physical appearance. Discoloured and damaged teeth can prevent us from smiling to our fullest. However, it does not always have to be that way. Teeth whitening in Waterloo has become very advanced and professional over the last several years. Today we will go through quick ways to brighten your teeth and smile.

Follow good dental habits

Dental hygiene is based on habits and practices. If you follow the basic dental care habits, you will have sparkling white teeth without much effort. The simplest thing you can manage is to follow the three-step regime of brushing, flossing, and rinsing. Apart from that, brushing or rinsing after consuming foods that stain your teeth is very important. For example, pigmented spices, sauces, candies, artificial colourants, berries, and beetroot can stain your teeth. Some drinks and beverages are particularly staining, like sodas, fruit juices, tea, and coffee. Tobacco, both smoking and chewing, is extremely bad for your teeth and can leave dark spots.

Advantages of a professional teeth whitening treatment

While many of you might opt for an at-home teeth whitening treatment, they are usually a waste of time and money. The results you get are at the surface level, and they can sometimes do more harm than good. For example, suppose you use a home teeth whitening kit for some time. There may be underlying dental issues that you have not detected. Using an at-home whitening kit may potentially worsen the current problem. It is better to get professional teeth whitening at regular intervals for these reasons.

With professional teeth whitening solutions in Waterloo, you get a safe and long-lasting solution. You do not have to get multiple appointments since one session will be effective for many months. On top of that, your dentist can assess your overall dental health and recommend treatments for other problems in the event you have any.

What to expect during a teeth whitening treatment

Professional teeth whitening treatments begin with a safe yet strong solution that dissolves all surface stains. The dentist assesses your dental health to check for any other issues. Once the dental health assessment is complete, the dentist will use a muco-protectant gel and insert a lip retractor, gauze, or rubber dam to ensure protection. If you should have any questions, you should definitely ask before this step as it is not possible to talk until the end of the treatment. Then the dentist would use specialized gels and determine how many sessions you need according to a dental shade card. The entire teeth whitening process should take no more than an hour in most cases. Following the treatment, you should avoid all discoloring foods that we talked about earlier.

Scheduling teeth whitening sessions

Teeth whitening treatments are generally done once a year. However, sometimes you will need multiple sessions with the dentist to achieve the desired results. Your dentist will guide you through the frequency and let you know if you need any extra steps.

As you can see, protecting your bright smile is as simple as spending an hour in a year with your dentist in Waterloo. Instead of looking for cheap, quick fixes, it is always best to let a professional dentist do their job. Contact us today for a quick way to brighten your smile in Waterloo!

Welcome Back

Life has been anything but normal this spring and we sincerely hope you and your family are in good health. We are happy to inform you that we are now able to once again provide dental care for you and your family. The Ministry of Health has lifted the restrictions placed back in March. While many things have changed since then, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your health and safety. Our office has always followed strict infection control standards and in order to keep us all protected during this pandemic and in the future, we have updated our protocols. When we see you at your next appointment, things will be a little different.

• We will ask some screening questions before your appointment and you’ll be asked those same questions again when you’re in the office.

• You may be asked to wait outside our office or in your car and call us when you arrive and then wait for a call back to let you know when you can enter the office.

• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the clinic. There are more dispensers around the office for you to use as needed. As well, you will be provided some gloves to wear. We recommend that you bring your own mask to wear prior to entering the clinic.

• Our waiting room will no longer offer magazines or children’s toys since those items are difficult to fully disinfect.

• Appointments will be spaced out to allow for physical distancing between patients. That might mean less flexibility for scheduling your appointment, but it will also reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

• You may be surprised that we’re wearing more protective gear – such as masks, face shields, gowns – than we normally do during your visit.

Rest assured, all these procedures are designed to create the safest environment for you, other patients and our team. We have undergone some renovations during this time. All operatory suites have been fully enclosed with glass windows and doors. This will ensure that all aerosols will be contained in the operatory. Prior to COVID-19, we had already installed Hepa filtration systems in all operatories and waiting areas. These systems are from Surgically Clean Air.

We look forward to seeing you again. If you have any questions, please let us know. To make an appointment, call our office at 519-725-9585 or email us at info@ashrafdentistry.ca.

Thank you for patience and loyalty throughout this ordeal. We value your trust and look forward to welcoming you back!

Sincerely,

Dr K Ashraf and the whole Dental Team.
